: : random pics from my weekend : :

I sure hope your weekend was as lovely as mine. Simple. Quite. Enjoyable. We could have done without all the rain, but the nature is loving it. Everything is turning green again. The flowers are blooming and my allergies are killing me. It's something that really has never bother me in the past. Maybe it's another sign I am just getting older, who knows but geeesss....I sneeze all the time!

Now as far as crafts go, I really don't have anything that I can call done so I am just showing you some little snaps that I loved the most from my lovely weekend.
I sort of laid off the painting for those few days as well. Number one....because I am plum sick of painting.....Number two.....cause I am not happy with the colors now. There is nothing more aggravating to finally find a color you just love and actually get it up on the walls only to find out that the lighting in that "say room"....it's NOT what you thought it would be. So what do I do now.....start all over. Agggggg.

So with all my aggravation, I put all my paint brushes away, let my hair down, fixed my face so I wouldn't look like the ten miles of bad road and ate that pretty bowl of strawberries up there.....every single one.....knitted a little....crocheted a little...took pictures a little...played on instagram which I really love....and whatever else floated my fancy like update the old blog again.

Hope you all have a lovely week, be back soon!

:: a pillow ::

Well Hello there!!!!
Popping in to show you how far I've gotten with Garrett's bed cover.....As you can see, I didn't get very far, as far as I have gotten is the pillow.

It has been crazy busy around here this week with all the painting that we are doing, or I should say, all the painting I am doing. I had help on one room and that was about it. This week is all about the kitchen and it's about to drive me nuts. Everything is out of order. Cabinet doors are off the hinges, and everything that goes in them are scattered around the countertops so do you think I've had time to
crochet.....no.

Anyways, do you like it? Whatcha think?
I see some flaws in it just from looking at this picture. I used my new pattern square that can be found in my last post. I sort of lost track of my rows when making them so some are a little bit bigger than the others. I was a little too "lazy" you might say to rip them out and start over so I just went with it and joined them together as best as I could. Overall....I like it!

I think it will suite a little boy just fine, mistakes and all.
Well, that's it for now.....
I have to get back to painting or I'll never finish....I hope you all have a pleasant day and thanks so much for coming to visit.
see you later!!!

:: updating ::

Happy Sunday everyone.
It's a great day to dip my fingers into all that yarn I bought recently. I was up late last night making new granny squares that look like they have been knitted, but......they are not. It's crochet! Just a simple slip stitch all the way around, over and over and ta da.....see how pretty!  love love love them.

My stacks are growing rapidly. It's so easy. Fun.
My plan is to make a new bed cover for Garrett's room with matching pillows. I think it's going to look great!

I've also been updating the house. That's what this blog post is really about if some of you were wondering about that title up there today. Spring is in the air, I can feel it so I thought I would get a early start inside and once spring is actually here I can focus on the outside. Flower beds and such!

Anyways, I've been painting the bathrooms and the kids bedrooms for the past two weeks and I have to say~ it's looking pretty good. Loving it!  I love it so much that I've even tackled my kitchen which was  really in need of an update. Lord have mercy did it need it!!!
Once it's all done I will so you some before and afters.

Oh and one more thing I updated was my cell phone. I've been toeing around this ole ancient thing for ages and now I have a new improved more updated phone with all the bells and whistle, fancy camera and such that I am now on Instagram!!!

If you would like to follow me, which I hope you do, you can find a link on my sidebar or just look for Sharibell47.

see ya later!!

: : Yarn Love : :

Ohhhh,

how I love NEW yarn

I feel like a kid in a candy store begging mom for just one more piece.
That's me when I see yarn.
 I have to have ....just one more color. Before I know it, I have a cart full.

 ♥

No big plans as of yet on what to do with all these lovely colors for I am still quilting on this quilt.

I forgot how slow going it is when you do it all by hand.

It's a process that I truly love doing. I think about my grandmother a lot when I quilt. She used to make such lovely stitches, super tiny ones at that~ so neat and straight. I so wish I could do that. Mine are all over the place
Anyways....maybe I'll finish this up before the month is up.

That's if I don't dip my fingers into that pile of yarn up there!!!!

 Well, that's it for today. A quick pretty post of lovelies that I had to share.
I truly hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
The weather has been rather pleasant that I was actually able to open up some windows and let fresh air in. Along with a little bit of sunshine.....

It feels as if Spring is coming near.
Yeah!!

Have a great week!

:: ribbons ::

Look at these lovely vibrate colors! Don't you just love them! This is a scarf that my sister made for me for Christmas and I am in love with it! It's made from Red Heart Boutique Ribbons yarn in Fluorescent. She claims it was fairly easy to work but could be a little confusing for someone who is new at this craft.

It comes in a ribbon like form with a top border of small loops and that is where you will knit or crochet into. Once you get going it tends to curl and curl which then gives you the curly effect that you see above. Pretty neat huh!!!  Love it!
It's so festive looking, bright and cheery.
She even made me a blue one!!! Ooooooooh la la

:: quilt and sew ::

Anything and everything to do with thread, bobbins, fabric, machine sewing, and hand stitching has been on my agenda alllll weekend!  I've actually put my hooks aside for a change....can you believe it!!!  It's been some time now that I quilted anything and thought it was high time I did.
I found a very large bag of fabric scraps at a garage sale over the summer that has been sitting way back in the closet so over the weekend I sat down with my lovely little cutter and started cutting away.  I do have to say, I am not your average quilter. I do not follow any rules. None what-so-ever!
I do not measure very well while cutting so that means my seams rarely line up in proper order. Well.....really, when I am sewing them together is when everything begins to go south. So...there are lots of horrid mistakes in this quilt.

I did however try to hide most of them and so far....so good. I used the old faithful sewing machine with a fancy zig-zag stitch, plus....it gives it a little more character.

Anyways, who ever said a quilt had to perfect? I know this one won't be!
I'll be back when it's finished.

Grey

It's grey. It's comfy. It's cozy. It's finished and it fits!!!!!

  I finished up Garrett's hat this week and I just love the way it turned out. I was a little worried at the beginning when I change from crochet to knit after the rim but you know what.....it's just awesome!
The rim stretches out just right to cover his ears and body of the hat fit's like a glove. Perfect!

Winter has certainly arrived here in Louisiana. Gosh, has it been cold. I know most of you are well into winter, most covered with snow, but here....down south, we are not used to such cold. It takes my breath away when we walk out. Lately, we've been bunkered down inside where it's nice and warm but today we actually were able to walk to the park. The sun peaked out somewhat which made it nice. It was a breath of fresh air to see since we all have been living in dark for the most part. Really and truly, January is not my favorite month just because it rains every single day until February. It's dark, gloomy, wet, muddy, and just down right yucky if you ask me. Any who, I will not let it damper my spirits. I'm still crafting away. I even started on my next knitted blanket and a quilt. I'll show a peak on them both later this week.
Until then.....I'm trying to stay warm and dry while dodging rain drops!
