:: quilt and sew ::

Anything and everything to do with thread, bobbins, fabric, machine sewing, and hand stitching has been on my agenda alllll weekend!  I've actually put my hooks aside for a change....can you believe it!!!  It's been some time now that I quilted anything and thought it was high time I did.
I found a very large bag of fabric scraps at a garage sale over the summer that has been sitting way back in the closet so over the weekend I sat down with my lovely little cutter and started cutting away.  I do have to say, I am not your average quilter. I do not follow any rules. None what-so-ever!
I do not measure very well while cutting so that means my seams rarely line up in proper order. Well.....really, when I am sewing them together is when everything begins to go south. So...there are lots of horrid mistakes in this quilt.

I did however try to hide most of them and so far....so good. I used the old faithful sewing machine with a fancy zig-zag stitch, plus....it gives it a little more character.

Anyways, who ever said a quilt had to perfect? I know this one won't be!
I'll be back when it's finished.

  1. Very Pretty! My quilts are far from perfect. But...I made them and that counts for something!

  2. Dear Shari, I saw a photo of gorgeous pink slippers on one of your posts. Can you give me the pattern reference? I love them! Love all you work!

  3. To a non quilter this looks fine to me. Lots of lovely colour and shape and we can't be perfect all of the time can we.

  4. I think it's lovely, I would love to be able to quilt. :) xx

  5. Your quilt is so beautiful! I have been wanting to learn how to quilt, but have been intimidated. Happy Quilting!

  6. I love your quilt better than most I see. Most quilters I know are out to make more quilts than their quilting friends and hurry through and on to the next and those quilts are mostly void of personality, planned out like a blueprint for a house and pretty darn blah IMHO. I adore yours with all the different fabrics not "matchy-matchy". There will never be one just like it as it is as unique as you! Congratulations for doing things your way!

  7. It is so pretty! I really like the different combinations of fabrics! So pretty! xx

  8. Hi Shari! Just having fun looking back at some of your older posts. I don't do a lot of quilting either, but I do love my sewing machine and love hand stitching! I'm terrible too about measuring and thinking I have to get it just perfect. This post inspires me and reminds me that it doesn't have to be perfect for it to look beautiful! Love your quilt and the hand sewn stitching!
