December Ends

Christmas was Absolutely wonderful, quiet and lovely. We spent Christmas Eve at home, letting Garrett open some of  his gifts. I truly believe he enjoy it this year above all the other years. Such a happy child. Christmas day we went to my youngest sister house where she prepared the most delicious cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins and biscuits. I had two of each. Couldn't help myself. After breakfast we all gathered together in the family room. We each find our own little corner while the kids play Santa-passing out the gifts. Once the tree is bare from gifts, we then  start the unwrapping! Butt not me. I love sitting back just watching. Waiting for that surprise expression. It's my most favorite time of Christmas day.

These last few days after Christmas have been quiet as well. Our days have still been bitter cold, wet and muggy. I've stayed indoors mostly but did wonder into town today for a few items from the grocery, passing by the museum one more time before they take down all the glitter and lights, humming to music on the radio, sipping hot chocolate, waiting for lights to turn green to make my way back home. Now resting with comfort with feet up, under quilts fresh out of the dryer. Movie time and another cup of hot coco.

Thank you for all your kind Christmas comments and well-wishes, beautiful cards and presents.  It all gave me such a sweet, warm glow to carry through the holiday. I have plans for tomorrow, quietly crocheting, soaking up the wind-down of the year, reflecting and planning things for the next one.
Happy New Year!

All is Calm

Well it's the day before Christmas Eve and all is quiet and calm. We have been spending our day all cozy inside our home from the bitter cold.. Lazy. Still. Quiet. I just love the last few days before Christmas. It's the time I spend wrapping up last minute gifts and baking goodies, cookies, and pies.....you know, all the good stuff!   Also........all of my knitting and crochet projects have been completed all except one which is half way finished. That is even surprising to myself. I am usually running around crazy the day of, gift wrapping and such even as we speed down the road over the hills to grandma's house but not this year. I can say....I am finished.

I can't wait until the day, when all the streets are quiet and the hustle and bustle of shoppers have subsided. Families gather together in one place spreading laughter and joy gleaming with Christmas cheer.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all peace, and good health during this wonderful Holiday. I wish you all happiness and lots of love, Thank you for all the wonderful, heartfelt  kindnesses you have shown to me over the past year. May all the love and joy come to you and yours.

Merry Christmas! with much love...."The Allen Family"

Tis the Season to be Jolly

Popping in for another quick post. Our Holiday is surely in full motion and there is still lots to be done.  My Christmas wrapping is soo behind I feel as if I am a little lost elf with so much dismay that Christmas will be late....Oh, so late!  I can't seem to get things going on the hooks fast enough and my days are numbered, 13 more as a matter of fact. But, I am pressing on.

*************

Our days here all week have been over casted, snow white cloudy, (with no snow) bitter, shivering, cold! As I walk my youngest into class, I can smell the warm burning of leaves and firewood fireplaces in the distance and it puts me in the mood for a warm cup of hot chocolate with cozy socks and wrist warmers, long pj's and cookies. My best holiday picture ever!
So.....as soon as I arrived back to the homestead I whip up some super quick wrist warmers and thought these would make perfect gifts too.
Adding more to my long list of things that need my attention ASAP.

I do this to myself every year. Really at the last minute. Before the holidays get into full swing, I always tell myself to plan ahead, get things organized, keep things neat and simple....but does this happen? of course not!  There surely isn't one thing that is organized or neat. I still don't have a clue what to get a few family members and my fingers are killing me from crocheting so much. It seems the faster I try to work the harder I hold my hooks which lead to very sore fingers and hands. Is there a remedy for this???

As I said before....I am pressing on.

Happy Holidays!!

Basket Weave Dishcloths

Every year for Christmas I whip up some sort of dishcloth or towels as a stocking stuffer. Usually I stick to the same old single crochet pattern but this year, I thought I would change it up a bit.
The basket weave pattern is good one to use. It's not only a quick pattern but a fairly easy pattern to work with. Loving how my hook just slides in and out of stitches with so much ease, I have quite the stack already.

Here are just a few pics for you to see of a stack of four already folded and tie off for delivery. Don't you just love them!

They are quick, so easy and fun to make.

My time here on my blog might be limited until after Christmas. There are so many things still, on the hooks, that really need my time to be completed so I will keep this post
short but sweet.

I thank you all so much for your lovely comments that you leave for me when you call upon my blog. I've made some lovely friends over this past year.

I wish each and every one of you a wonderful Holiday and I will see you all again soon.
If time permits before the big day....I will pop in and say hello.

Until then.......

Happy Holidays!
