Crochet Briar Bunnies

Hello everyone!  How is your week going?  We had a wonderful extended weekend. Lauren was out of school until today because of the big Mardi Gras Holiday one that we really don't participate in due to all the {how can I put this nicely}, "the crazy people" .We rather stay home and watch everything on TV instead of fighting crowds.  We really enjoy our home time. We never left the house for five straight days. It was total ponytail, pj bliss! I did pop my head out the door from time to time to watch it rain. So exciting~ I know.  My poor yard is one big sloppy mess....I can't stand it anymore. I am so over Winter!  Just three more weeks until the first day of Spring and we better have some sunshine.

I did however make these two cutie-pies.  They are my new addition to our family.

"Crochet Briar Bunnies"

They were each given a name because they are just so darn cute. I really enjoyed working on them and seeing them come to life.  I really wanted them to be knitted, and boy did I ever try, but I failed at the whole working with three double pointed needle thing.  I guess I am not that coordinated.
Anyways, I do love them~ but the next one I make I might try and come up with a way to have the body and the head all in one instead of having each piece separate. It was so hard stitching them on so they would look right. You can tell I mess up on the one on your left compared to the one on your right, but who cares right....they are still cute!

I love them so much I have played with one all day. I have carried her with me everywhere I went treating her like she is my little baby girl. Silly, I know, but I just can't help myself.  She is squishy....cuddly.....soft.

If some of you are wondering about the blanket she is all wrapped up in....I did not make this one.  It is Lauren's baby blanket that I wrapped "her" up in when we brought her home from the hospital almost 16 years ago.  The lady who made it did such a beautiful job , I am amazed how well it has kept it's shape for all these years...plus it's knitted!!!  No rips or snags anywhere.

Before anyone ask.....Where is the pattern?   Well, it's tucked away in my brain for now. I do not have it written out and I might not ever.  I used to write out patterns but for some reason lately....I just don't have the patience.  But.....I might  give one away in a giveaway closer to Easter so watch this space.

Until then, I do hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead. Tomorrow is Friday again and I am ready to tackle on another project.

See more details on her on my Ravelry page. You can find my link on my sidebar.

  1. Hello Millie and Mollie....two gorgeous cuties!!! How creative you are Shari and your own pattern. I must admit I do find it tedious having to write out a pattern but it is even more so if I want to repeat something I've made and I can't remember how I did it! LOL!
I very much like yourself avoid going to the big carnival celebrations here. I used to and I've dressed up too but I hate the big shuffling crowds now. Is it just me or do I get the impression people are more aggressive than what they used to be. I mean there always used to be pushing and shoving but now it seems to be that bit more violent.

    keep well

  2. Cute! Cute! Cute! I love bunnies. I'm working on a felt one here and there but it's all hand sewn so it's taking me a long time. How creative of you to just whip them up without a pattern. I'm also a home body. You'll find me home most of the day.

  5. Aww! your new little ones are so cute! I would love to snuggle with one too. The blanket looks like it might be the feather and fan pattern. It's really not as hard as it looks and I know you could do it too. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I love Millie and Mollie Shari, what lovely additions to your bunny family. I'm going crazy over bunnies lately and I am going to try and sew one so it will be a first for me, just waiting for the pattern to arrive. That sounds like the best time ever just mooching around the house in your pjs not having to worry about going out anywhere and with lovely company too. :) xx

  12. They are adorable, I love them. I think the next one has to be chocolate colored with a little bit out of its ear.

  17. So sweet! I do not see what you did "wrong" on the one bunny. Have you heard this phrase or something similar: If you can't see it from the back of a galloping horse, don't worry about it! I just finished knitting a shawl for my friend that was a 4 row pattern repeat. When I blocked it, I saw that I had somehow lost count and flipped the pattern (not too noticeable) at one point. I was at the point of frustration and wondering whether to rip, when I noticed that I had done it another time. The cool thing was that the lines where it flipped divided the shawl into about thirds! I decided to leave it and call it "a design element". And don't give up on the circular knitting! It is SO awkward at first, but then you get the hang of where everything should be and pulling the first couple stitches at each gap so you don't get that big stitch.

  18. Oh my, could anything be sweeter! I adore them, such cute little tummies and perky little ears! I agree with you about the sewing parts together - mine always look a bit like, well, like I'm Dr Frankenstein stitching my creation! Now I'm off to Ravelry to learn more about these two, I do so love shades of white and cream...Chrissie x ps I was in New Orleans years ago for Jazz Fest, it seemed a more, erm, civilised way to take in the whole N'awlins thing...;-)

  19. Wow Shari, you've done it again, another masterpiece… twice over! I sooooo love Milly and Molly and would love to hug them all day too! You are so very clever my girl!!!
Lauren's beautiful baby blanket ….. ahhhh ….. I still have my first son's blanket that my Mum knit for him, and it's the same fan and feather pattern! Much older than yours though, the yarn has turned a bit yellowish instead of the lovely cream colour it was, but oh it's so very special to me just as Lauren's is to you!
I hide away from crowds so understand you enjoying being home rather than among them - and oh I do hope that wintry weather stops soon and you get lots of lovely sunshine to brighten your days! Thank you for brightening mine m'dear! Joy xo
