:: ribbons ::

Look at these lovely vibrate colors! Don't you just love them! This is a scarf that my sister made for me for Christmas and I am in love with it! It's made from Red Heart Boutique Ribbons yarn in Fluorescent. She claims it was fairly easy to work but could be a little confusing for someone who is new at this craft.

It comes in a ribbon like form with a top border of small loops and that is where you will knit or crochet into. Once you get going it tends to curl and curl which then gives you the curly effect that you see above. Pretty neat huh!!!  Love it!
It's so festive looking, bright and cheery.
She even made me a blue one!!! Ooooooooh la la

:: quilt and sew ::

Anything and everything to do with thread, bobbins, fabric, machine sewing, and hand stitching has been on my agenda alllll weekend!  I've actually put my hooks aside for a change....can you believe it!!!  It's been some time now that I quilted anything and thought it was high time I did.
I found a very large bag of fabric scraps at a garage sale over the summer that has been sitting way back in the closet so over the weekend I sat down with my lovely little cutter and started cutting away.  I do have to say, I am not your average quilter. I do not follow any rules. None what-so-ever!
I do not measure very well while cutting so that means my seams rarely line up in proper order. Well.....really, when I am sewing them together is when everything begins to go south. So...there are lots of horrid mistakes in this quilt.

I did however try to hide most of them and so far....so good. I used the old faithful sewing machine with a fancy zig-zag stitch, plus....it gives it a little more character.

Anyways, who ever said a quilt had to perfect? I know this one won't be!
I'll be back when it's finished.

Grey

It's grey. It's comfy. It's cozy. It's finished and it fits!!!!!

  I finished up Garrett's hat this week and I just love the way it turned out. I was a little worried at the beginning when I change from crochet to knit after the rim but you know what.....it's just awesome!
The rim stretches out just right to cover his ears and body of the hat fit's like a glove. Perfect!

Winter has certainly arrived here in Louisiana. Gosh, has it been cold. I know most of you are well into winter, most covered with snow, but here....down south, we are not used to such cold. It takes my breath away when we walk out. Lately, we've been bunkered down inside where it's nice and warm but today we actually were able to walk to the park. The sun peaked out somewhat which made it nice. It was a breath of fresh air to see since we all have been living in dark for the most part. Really and truly, January is not my favorite month just because it rains every single day until February. It's dark, gloomy, wet, muddy, and just down right yucky if you ask me. Any who, I will not let it damper my spirits. I'm still crafting away. I even started on my next knitted blanket and a quilt. I'll show a peak on them both later this week.
Until then.....I'm trying to stay warm and dry while dodging rain drops!

Knitting

Hello everyone!  Happy New Year to you all. This is my first post to the new year here on my blog. I've made a few changes with it yet again, to give a fresh new look also a fresh new start. It's funny how at the beginning of a new year, we all want to start things with a more better prospective than we have been doing thus so far. I do, however, have a few ideas swimming around above and will do my very very best to do keep everything on track. Now, I am not going to write it in "stone" because I am the worst person to keep plans, much less to any New Year's resolutions.....so lets just say," I will do my best.!"

Lately, I've been trying my hand at knitting again. This time a knitted hat. Actually, the rim is crochet cause I started out thinking I wanted it crochet, but once I finished the rim, I wanted to knit.  Instead of ripping it all out, I just picked up stitches around the edge with a circular needle and off I went. Loving it so much better....I really am
