More Squares and more squares

Ever since I finish my Blocks of Spring blanket, I've sort of been in a slump. I have a list of so many things in my head and jotted down on paper, I just can't make myself make any of them. I start....then I rip....I start again, then I rip!! I've ripped and ripped until my yarn is starting to unravel. So....what do you do when there is so much undecided decisions.....make granny squares. these little squares are starting to take over my side table and a little chest, all from my stash. I've even reached down to the bottom of my basket, using those colors that no longer served any purpose for me~ the ones collecting dust, into the mix.
"Lovely Happiness!"

While making so many squares, I always ask myself, "What directions will this go?" "Do you really want to make another blanket?" and my answer is always YES.  Blankets are always a big favorite of mine so I hope you don't mind seeing another one come into play. Most of them are on the smaller/to medium side but this one, I want it to be bigger. I have a vision on how I "want" it to go so lets see and time will tell.

Lots of happiness outside too. My garden is in full bloom but only in one section. The winter really did it's toll on it this year but still enjoyable. It has inspired me to name this blanket which I will reveal later on once completed.

I would like to take a minute and welcome all my new followers to my blog. It's so nice to see and meet new faces, so Welcome!  Blogging has open up so many doors for me and has given me the chance to meet such lovely ladies as yourselves. I've said it many times before that blogging friends are the best. So generous and thoughtful in so many ways. I was so lucky to receive a nice surprise in the mail from the lovely Linda over at Linda's Crafty Corner, I know most of you know her but if not please stop in for a visit, your will love her space. She sent me a book in the mail for knitting different blocks. I am a new beginner to knitting and thoughI am still very very slow at it, I am coming along nicely. It surely has been a challenge and this book has so many great patterns for a beginner like me to make beautiful stitches. Thank you so much Linda, I know I will get great use out of this book.

Here's to a wonderful week, I'll be back soon.....

  6. Your new granny's are so soft and pretty. I have lots and lots of little balls of leftover cotton from dishcloths that I think may end up as a blanket. Some are oddly variegated though and I'm not sure how pretty it would be. Maybe a I should just go for it and see what happens! Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. I love your granny squares Shari, lovely colour mixes, I wonder why we all love making granny squares so much, they make you feel happy just looking at them. It's nice to see your garden beginning to bloom, it's still pretty cold here and there's not much life in my garden at all. Enjoy your book and thank you for the lovely mention. :) xx

  10. Hi Shari
Blankets are my absolute favourite too, and your pile of all of your beautiful ones in your header is so gorgeous. Loving the colours of all your new squares. I'm so glad you're enjoying your knitting, I have recently dipped back into it again to make a couple of shawls ( just for a change from blankets ! ) and it has been fun to do something a little different for a change.
Have a good week, see you soon,
    Kate x

  14. I can't settle on anything to knit at the moment and have ripped out quite a few started but dropped projects lately. I'd rather look at balls of yarn rolled up than halfway made into something I don't like. Your granny squares are the best! All those soft colours mixed together ... the blanket is going to be a beauty! That was a wonderful thing for Linda to send you the blocks book. I hope you enjoy knitting the squares in it ... lots to choose from! Have a great week Shari :) Wendy x

  15. Your grannies are looking gorgeous and I couldn't give even one reason as to why not another blanket! Go for it blanket girl, you always do a tremendous job with them! Your colours are all gorgeous, and you are about to have some delightful colourful blooms on that bush too - is it a rhododendron or an azalea?
Linda is such a sweet kind person - and does so much work for her charities too - how lovely of her to send you the book!
I hope your week is going well, Shari, now that you've settled into your project - I've been doing a bit of trying and ripping out myself these past couple of days too!!!
    Warm hugs, Joy xo

  18. I identify with your stitching slump, Shari. I have been looking for a simple knitting pattern to make a shawl with 420 yards of merino yarn...at least it is fun looking:) Your sweet grannies will surely make a lovely blanket. Your bush is so pretty. My camellia bush has about six blooms on it so far. xx

  19. Hi Shari, I love the colours in your grannies, they are truly gorgeous. I identify with your slump too but thankfully not at the moment. I always find it such a disconcerting feeling. I try and plan ahead so that I have a little something else started but it doesn't always work.

  27. Such pretty granny squares. Ive just started crocheting as a knitter I've enjoyed how quickly you can make something so pretty. Do you mind if I ask you if you follow a pattern or just make it up yourself? Recommendations for a good beginners book would be fabulously helpful. Happy blogging x
