Newborn Knitted Jacket

 I'm back today to show you, as promised, the little newborn knitted jacket I whipped up with leftover yarn from my pullover sweater from my previous post.

I have a upcoming baby shower to attend at the end of November so what better than a little jacket for the precious newborn to wear home from the hospital.

I am thinking that a little hat and shoes would go nicely with it, don't you think!

 By looking at my choice of colors....you guessed it.....it's a GIRL!

 It's all made from baby soft yarn in white with a striped pattern in the middle, of brown, dark pink and pale pink. The brown looks almost black in this photo....so sorry.....bad lighting today. The one below will give you a better view of the colors.

I used a size F crochet hook for the collar, following  THIS PATTERN until the bottom part. That's when I switched from my crochet hook to a size 6 knitting needle to finish the body and the sleeves.

Easy Peasy!

 Adding a border around the whole entire jacket makes everything fit together nicely. 

Add buttons and little appliques if you like to add another touch.

I hope I have given a new twist on making little jacket.

White Pullover Sweater

 Hello all, it's the long lost blogger again, finally making her appearance. So sorry for such a long absence but you know how it is sometimes, when "life" just takes over and there is no time for the fun stuff. But.....I have to say, that the clouds have parted and I am in full swing again~making prettieee things and doing what I love the most....crochet!

I had a request from my oldest, that she would love to have a white pullover sweater to wear to school. She claims that the classrooms are freezing and wished to have something "warm" to keep her from shivering all day sooo~ the sweet mom as I am, this is what I whipped up for her over the weekend. Hopefully this will do the trick

I  L O V E how it turned out. From the top collar all the way down to the extra long sleeves. ( I say extra long sleeves cause they cover most of her hands....which she did not mind)  and the pattern stitch that I came up with throughout the body which I love to call the "Sweater Stitch" Maybe there is a stitch out there that is close to this one but that is what I am calling the stitch in this sweater.

 I do think as fall is coming closer and closer here in the neighborhood, I think a gray , cream  or a pretty brown might be made......just for the fun of it!

Speaking of fun......I even had my hand at this little sweater....it's crochet and knit!

Knitting Love....

Is there ever a project that you just fall completely in love with while making that you just can't ever seem to put it down?

well.....that's what is happening to me at the moment.

I've been enjoying my days and nights lately just knitting away at what will be yet another, blanket.

A cozy soft, yet simple blanket to snuggle under. This blanket is coming together at a wonderful time.

We had a day or two with cool morning breezes so

As I sit by my kitchen window ( opened), I enjoy the clean crisp air and I knit. Drink coffee.

Knit. Wonder how big this one will be and how many colors will be added. 

Knit, knit, knit.

It's all I've been thinking about and enjoying each stitch.

FAQ's

Today I've been sorting out my email pile of madness which contains several questions.....sooo, I thought it would be fun to just answer all these questions all in one post.

Also I've been playing around with the old blog making some little changes with it.  I hope you like it!!! 

I've changed the name just slightly and also I've taken down Bloglovin and Raverly links. I thought I would be using them often at first but over time I have come to the conclusion, I do not like those sites. Plus it's hard for me to keep them updated with everything else I do daily. If you follow me on Bloglovin, I think you might still updates from the blog but Raverly I will no longer be posting on there.

So,  back to the topic at hand.

Lets get started!

How long have you been crocheting?

I've been crocheting ever since I was a young teenager. My grandmother sat me down one day during my summer vacation with my cousin and older sister and taught me how to make the shell stitch.

I was so drawn to how pretty the stitch was that I have been crocheting ever since.

What is your favorite hook size you like to use?

I love using a size "G" crochet hook for it just seems to "fit" in my hand just right.

I have very small fingers and anything that is really much bigger than that just hurts my hands so I stick to the smaller ones when making my things.

3.

Are blankets the only thing you make when you crochet?

No.  Even thought I make "several" blankets out of yarn I also love to quilt a few. Plus, I enjoy making other things out of yarn like pillows, scarves, socks, pot holders, bunnies, and baby clothes.

There really isn't a thing I would not tackle when it comes to crocheting......I guess you can say

"I'm Hooked".....haha.....get it!

What do you do with all your blankets?

Well. I have several stacked on a large bookcase in my craft room looking all pretty and some stacked in a antique cabinet in my living room . Some I give away to friends or family for special holidays, like birthdays and Christmas or I even give them away for baby showers.

Do you ever sell your blankets?

Yes, sometimes but not often. I prefer making them for our home. I also thought in the beginning of blogging that I would love to open up a little Etsy shop but for some reason I ventured away from that idea. I just don't want the hassle of orders. Plus, I get more enjoyment out of it just making them at my own pace.

Do you mind sharing your patterns?

No I do not mind sharing my patterns but sometimes I just don't have enough time in my day to write them all out much less put all that info on my blog.Truthfully, I get so frustrated when making tutorials or writing out patterns that they are few and far between posted here.

How long have you been knitting?

I've only been knitting for a couple of months. I've been teaching myself by watching Youtube

videos. At first I thought to myself  "How in the world am I ever going to learn this!" but I kept at it and now it is all falling into place.

 Loads of fun!

What type of yarn do you use?

I love to use Cotton!

It is my most favorite of all yarn to use but I also use Caron Yarns, Red Heart Yarns and Knit Picks Yarn. 

Well that pretty much sums up all the questions that I have come across so far. When I get to the end of my email pile and discover any more questions I will do this again.

Weekend Happiness......

........was discovering how much I love making potholders.

Especially the ones that have big flowers on them. 

There is just something about them that has been making me so happy....

thrilled......excited!

They always seem to speak to me when I see one. 

Make me please!!

Plus, they were much needed in my kitchen.

If you spend as much time in your kitchen baking and cooking as I do.....

there never seems to be enough of these to go around~ does there!

Problem solved.......

.....I think I'll make some more!

Today.......

......I've decided to knit!

Something happy and different for a change. 

I thought after awhile~ making crochet blankets, it's high time I do something that 

excites me....and,

knitting does just that!

First, I am playing around with some flowers from my garden.

It's a day full of happiness inside and out!

Granny Pinwheel Throw

After three weeks and two days of making triangles......I've finally finished piecing them all together, making the border~I can now say.....this one is DONE!

 This blanket went through three phases to complete believe it or not. First phase, I made all the triangles. All two-hundred of them!!!  One-hundred in white and one-hundred in different colors from my stash.

Then phase two begins. I joined each color triangle to a white triangle to make a square, plus adding a border around each square in white to make them more square. (Did that make sense?) I hope you get the picture!

And finally phase three, I joined all the squares together by slip stitching into the back loops only. Once that was complete, I made a two round circle made of single crochets to add in the middle of each pinwheel to make them stand out a little bit more and the border was added last, of course.

The border is my very own little design made up of single crochet and trebles. (Pattern to come at a later date)

What will come next?????  Who knows. I know I did say I was up for a challenge and I have a little something in mind~ so until then.....thanks for stopping in today.
